Poll Results, Klippers/Mustangs Game

The First of many polls is in the De Paoli Debacle is in the books and we have a split decision.

The Poll question was "Out of the Top 4 Teams in the SJHL who has the best chance to win the Credit Union Cup?"

The Choices were

Yorkton     5 Votes

La Ronge   2 Votes

Melfort       5 Votes

Kindersley  1 Vote

Upset in the Making 1 Vote.

So those who voted it was a small number but they think a Yorkton/Melfort final is brewing which is what I think it will be, Kindersley did play the Mustangs tough last night and the final score was 4-3, the score I predicted, good goaltending at both ends with Corsi and Cahill it was a playoff game with some questionable calls but just the one referee tonight I don't he could keep up to the play but you play through I give full credit for the KK's for their work effort they might catch Yorkton for number one in the Sherwood it will be tough but it will be a close race.

The Mustangs played for 55 minutes last night and the last five could have killed them with penalties but Cody Hanson was unreal with Metz on the power its like they know where they're gonna be... HMMM but I tip my cap to Brett Kipling stepping up for Johnny Badura after he got crunched into the boards on a late hit by Jesse Mysiorik gets cut up, tells the coaching staff I gotta got to the hospital I'll be back, gets stitched up can remember how many but he's back out there playing his heart out! Great determination also Owen Roschuk playing with rib problems and shoulder problems was a monster out there must have had 8 big hits in that game, Also Conner Bradshaw had a solid effort a great penalty killer and was clutch when the Mustangs when killing off a 6-4 PP near the end of the game.

Scott Brkich got a little banged up took a hit and just got turned around the wrong way we'll see his status for tomorrow night it is a game against the Hounds that could be a night off for him and Zach Johnson might be in he is fighting some back problems but Zach is tough and could probably play through the pain. Also Brody Haygarth could return tomorrow or Darrell Mann may wait to get him back in the line-up Tuesday against Yorkton. The Mustangs are playing well without Haygarth in the line up since New Year's day imagine where they could be with him healthy and not hurt... its scary.

3 Stars from the night

1. Cody Hanson  Melfort, 2 goals on the night including the winner a great debut.

2. Sean Aschim   Melfort, Got a goal and was a force may be one of the most underrated Centres in the  league, he's been a point a game player all year and the best part about him stats are secondary he wants to win and that's something thats hard to find in players at times.

3. Sean Cahill      Kindersley

39 saves on 43 shots it could have been a run away if it wasn't him in between pipes robs Spencer Mault on a wide open shot in the second and just on power plays positioned himself very well he has improved a lot since I saw him last year in the Playoffs last year with Oilers. A solid effort from the Calgary product who is on his way to Alaska Fairbanks next year in the NCAA.

It was nice to catch up with Sean after the game he was dealt a bad hand at the start of the year with the Okotoks Oilers trading him at the start of the season to Brooks, then he was sent to Quesnel of the BCHL before coming to Kindersley he has really excelled as the starter in the SJHL he could be the MVP for the Klippers for their turn around also Rockie Zinger has helped him out a lot
Melfort is back in action tomorrow against the Notre Dame Hounds, the Hounds are a good defensive team so no slouch here for the Blue, Green and White and we'll see the status of Brkich for tomorrow and see if Jesse Ehnisz gets the start or if Charles Corsi goes again. Should be a good one I'll have a mini preview tomorrow.

We'll be on the air at 7:25ish for 7:30 Puckdrop on the Webcast go to the Mustangs website and follow the links for live action.
